Salve raga,
Ho un piccolo problemino con la mia nuova stampante, di fatto anche scaricando i driver dal sito http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/spc/DL1.do non c'è modo a farla funzionare l'unico driver che sembra farle stampare qualche cosa è quello delle Epson New stylus color series 1.3 solo che stampa in formato testo quello che dovrebbe essere il file *.ps che manda in stampa con la stampa di prova... ho provato anche con le stampante generiche ma non ho avuto miglioramenti in quel caso escono solo i fogli senza essere nemmeno toccati dalla cartuccia... il problema l'ho sia con la versione 10.2 che con la 11.0 della opensuse,
IDEE... in merito o dritte da provare...attualmente la mia mente ha spento la lucina

Scusa per il ritardo ho avuto dei problemi a collegarmi al primo link della openprinting sito dove per altro in realtà c'è scritto che non è stata verificata la compatibilità del driver ma solo che è presente nella lista delle stampanti di quel driver.
tra le prove che ho fatto:
yast riconosce la stampante come una new stylus color  ma come già scritto stampa in formato testo ciò che dovrebbe essere grafico
poi ho provato con l'installazione tramite rpr di pipslite-1.2.0-1.i386.rpm perché è un po che sono a provarci ad installarla e ho visto di recente è stata data a disposizione anche la 1.3 provato pure con quella ma di fatto i file ppd messo a disposizione è eklite.ppd che non funziona manco con le cannonate fa uscire solo fogli bianchi.
l'unico che fino ad ora mi ha dato un pochino di soddisfazione è quello  Epson Stylus CX4800 che però stampa solo con l'inchiostro al 100%  mentre le risoluzioni al 50, 25,12.5 e 6.25 sono bianco color foglio di stampa, la centratura è più o meno giusta.
Non ho ancora provato ad installare il tutto da sorgente, qui purtroppo ho qualche carenza perché ho sempre preferito gli rpm (sono un po pigro in questo senso)

Avrei una domanda se non riuscissi a trovare il modo di configurare la stampante C'è modo di farsi un file ppd hai visto mai che un principiante senza particolari conoscenze...  abbia gli attributi... necessari per risolvere un problemino di stampa...

la tua stampante è l'ultima in basso a destra della lista nel paragrafo *Model*; nei menù a tendina più in basso indichi la OpenSUSE/SUSE, la versione, la nazione e negli ultimi due puoi indicare Others. A questo punto clicchi su Next e ti scarichi il driver rpm e lo installi. Se non lo hai fatto, lo stesso procedimento lo attui con la CX4800; lì in mezzo  (nel paragrafo Model sempre a questo indirizzo http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/spc/DL1.do) c'è anche la cx4800.

sul sito avasys per questa stampante viene dato il file pipslite-1.3.0-2.i386.rpm in precedenza la versione 1.2, ma non funziona manco con le cannonate. perche' il file ppd di fatti è eklite.ppd che non funziona per questa stampante con questa versione la versione 10.2 ed anche la 11.0, gli unici file ppd che vanno sono quelli della dx4800 e famiglia solo che non stampano le percentuali 50-25-12.5-6.25 quindi le immagini te le puoi scordare; in alternativa si può usare il file ppd della famiglia C20 unico handicap il testo lo stampa come se fosse una risoluzione a 300dpi per le immagini i colori vengono stampaticon uno stacco di circa 0.5mm l'uno dall'altro e quindi l'immagine viene sfasata.
sto provando ad installare il file pips-scx4700 come da te consigliato per vedere cosa succede devo dire che ci stà impiegando parecchio ad installarlo, ti faccio sapere al piu' presto.
per quanto riguarda la openprinting sempre su tuo consiglio ho provato a seguire le direttive ed installare l'rpm messo a disposizione ma il sistema non mi permette di installarlo causa non ricordo bene se era il file che lo considerava corrotto o non adatto alla versione del s.o. che utilizzo al momento tutti i miei sforzi sono concentrati sulla 10.2 non ho provato con la 11.0 perchè per far prima mi sono portato il pc sul lavoro, in modo che così sfrutto i tempi morti...

...purtroppo se i costruttori non mettono a disposizione loro un driver decente che conoscono il prodotto che hanno costruito (..si spera  ), è alquanto difficile creare un driver su specifiche che non venogno fornite (tecnica del reverse engineering a parte....e che comunque prende tempo e soldi visto che da cavia dovrà fare proprio uno o più prodotti del tipo non supportati).
Verifica se hai installato tutto il necessario per far funzionare al meglio CUPS (il server di stampa).

Ci sono riuscito al 50% mi ci sono messo d'impegno oggi pomeriggio e per quanto rigurada la 10.2  l'ho messa a posto, in pratica ho pensato che forse non funzionava per qualche sorta d'errore provocato nelle procedure d'installazione e quindi ho disinstallato tutto cioè i pips vari rpm che avevo scaricato anche quello della 4700 per intenderci poi ho fatto un mega aggiornamento del sistema perché ero rimasto un pochino indietro, di fatti ho impiegato parecchio tra aggiornamenti e pach varie, poi ho installato i repo riportati http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/Database/DriverPackages che sono quelli del how to di openprint; questo solo perché se si dovevano risolvere problemi legati magari a file mancanti, hai visto mai che non manchino proprio questi.
A quel punto ho installato l'rpm dal sito avasys pips-scx4700-cups-2.6.3-1.i386.rpm  ti chiederai come mai questo  (risposta avevo paura che l'altro non funzionasse per niente e dato che questa stampante funzionava al 50%  me lo sono tenuto di scorta)
poi ho installato quello delle stampanti Epson Stylus NX200/SX200/SX205/TX200/TX203/TX209 for CUPS  siccome ho visto che è lo stesso file, mi sono chiesto non è che magari sebbene sia lo stesso file si trovano su due server differenti magari uno è corrotto e l'altro no ?
Bhé non ci crederai eliminando la stampante e modificando quella che mi dava presente in Yast  mi sono andato a cercare EPSON e la stampante LITE...    ha funzionato al primo colpo   non ti dico che cosa ho detto in quel momento ma da buon mantovano 4 le ho tirate...
Ora il problema l'ho sul portatile un HP Pavilion zv6000 con la 11.0 che quel file li non lo vuol proprio far funzionare, ho provato a procedere nello stesso modo... il risultato non è stato uguale dev'esserci qualche passaggio che mi è sfuggito magari anche con la 10.2 che probabilmente ho risolto nel aggiornare il sistema che qua però però però ...non so
Per ora rimando, ti faccio sapere. metti che anche qualcun altro abbia la stessa versione di S.O. e la stessa stampante...

Ti spiego esattamente cosa faccio:
Scarico da avasys il file rpm pspi_xyz interessato
faccio doppio clic sul file
  mi viene chiesto d'installarlo col gestore di pacchetti
 gli do l'ok inserisco la pwd
il sistema parte per l'installazione dopo un po sparische tutto
e se riprovo a farlo mi dice che è gia sato inserito e non mi è possibile farlo.
se passo alla configurazione della stampante parto dall'eliminazione per poi configurarla di nuovo  andando a cercare il file Epson Lite e quando lancio la stampa di prova non ne vuol sapere a partire.
Aggiungo che è tutta settimana che provo in diverse maniere anche da sorgenti ma la sostanza non varia...
Qualche dritta da proporre ?


PS: ho avuto qualche problema a collegarmi al vostro sito in settimana non ero più in grado di aprire le pagine web del vostro sito internet e tra l'altro non è l'unico sito internet con cui ho avuto il problema

da sorgenti ho caricato le dipendenze che mi mancavano e cioè il compilarore cpp e fortran 77
poi però nella fase di make install mi ha dato un'errore che ti listo più tardi.

era poi direttamente durante il make che mi dava errore mi ricordavo male. Ho provato ora a dare anche il make install

...dall'errore riportato sul comando make (P.S.: Se make non va a buon fine è inutile dare il comando make install), c'è un qualche pacchetto che ti manca. Verifica la presenza di pacchetti come cups-dev o cups-devel e se non installato allora installalo con YaST (comprese tutte le dipendenze che potrebbe portarsi dietro).
Una volta installato dai di nuovo il configure e il make e vedi possibili errori. Se non ci sono vai di make install.
